His Eminence Sheikh Taleb Mohammed Yousuf Al Shehhi obtained a master’s degree from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Morocco. He worked as a teacher and preacher for the Armed Forces from 1997-2001. In 2010, he was appointed as Director of the Preaching Department at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf), where he served until 2016. He is currently Director of the Department of Research and Monitoring of Religious Publications at Awqaf.
His Eminence has given scholarly and religious lessons in mosques, delivered lectures in public and private institutions and supervised family guidance courses.
He has participated in several media programs, including Wa Zakkir [Remind] on Emarat TV from 2002-2004, and a variety of radio programs since 2001. He has also published articles in newspapers and magazines, including 999 Magazine, responded to Fatwa seekers in some issues of Manar Al Islam magazine, and prepared for and presented TV programs for the Emarat and Baynounah TV channels.
Sheikh Taleb Al Shehhi is a member of the Ifta Committee at Awqaf; Head of the Imams, Muezzins and Preachers Selection Committee; a member of the Psychological Support Programs, the Red Crescent’s Addiction Prevention Program and the Aqdar Program. He is also Deputy Head of the Legal Committee of the Zakat Fund.
He has participated in various events overseas, including the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Conference in Jordan in 2005 and the Moderation: A Way of Life Conference in Kuwait in the same year. He also took part in the meeting of the Muslim World League’s Economic and Social Committee.
