Dr. Al-Anani holds Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Georgia (1975), an M.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University, and a B.A. from the American University in Cairo (1967). He has held the following positions: senior researcher at the Economic Research Department in the Central Bank of Jordan (1967-79); undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and general director for social security (1977-79); minister of supplies; minister of labor; minister of industry and commerce; director of the Royal Scientific Association (1986-89); minister of information and cabinet affairs; member of the Jordan Council of Notables (1993-2001); deputy prime minister for social development and minister of Foreign Affairs (1997-98); last chief of the Royal Hashemite Court for the late King Hussein; assistant professor at West Virginia University (2000-2001); and visiting professor at Ajman University (present). Al-Anani has more than 100 scientific studies to his credit and has delivered several lectures on political and economic subjects. He published three scientific books and two collections of stories. He also undertakes activities in broadcast journalism.
