H.E. Rashid Abdullah Al-Nuaimi had been the United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister from 1990 to 2005. Before assuming this prestigious office, His Excellency had been Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from 1977 to 1990. In 1976, he was appointed Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Earlier, he had held numerous positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director of the Directorate General of Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry in 1975. His Excellency was designated Ambassador in 1974, took over as Under-Secretary for Media and Tourism in 1972, and assumed the post of Director of the Department of Media and Tourism in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 1971.
Before working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency held different posts at the Department of Oil and Industrial Affairs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, from Deputy Director for Oil Affairs to Director of the Directorate of Oil in 1970.
His Excellency has many cultural and literary interests. He is the first person to write a novel in the UAE and his articles have appeared in many newspapers.
His Excellency got his Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Cairo in 1967 and has carried out many studies in petroleum economics.
