H.E. Prof. Farouk Hamada has been an adviser at the Court of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, since 2008. He has also served as the Chancellor of Mohammed V University—Abu Dhabi, since 2014.
From 1976 to 2009, Prof. Hamada taught at various universities, where he held several senior positions in Moroccan universities including head of department and director of Islamic studies. He has also supervised hundreds of research papers and scholarly letters, and a large number of doctorate holders from several countries graduated under his supervision. Moreover, he has authored more than 50 published books.
Prof. Hamada is the founder and chairman of the Rabat Academic Society for Islamic Studies Research as well as the editor-in-chief of Basa’er Al-Rabat magazine.
His Excellency acts as a referee for more than 20 universities and think tanks in Arab and Muslim countries, and is a member of editorial boards of a number of academic journals in Morocco and other countries. He has also been the chairman of the Sharia Committee at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf) in the UAE since 2009.
