Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandoos is currently working as the Executive Director of the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology.
Al Mandoos was born on November 16, 1966. Holds a PhD in Meteorology Sciences from University of Belgrade, Belgrade, in Serbia 2012, He obtained his master degree in meteorology from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa 2005, and His bachelor degree in meteorology from the University of Saint Louis in the United States of America 1989. He is the Permanent Representative of United Arab Emirates with the World Meteorological Organization, and he is the president-elect of the Standing Committee for Meteorology and Climate for the Gulf Cooperation Council. In 2011, he was awarded the best director of executive-level Middle East. He worked as a weather forecaster at Al Dhafra Airbase, UAE in the period from 1990 to 1998. From 1999 to 2000, he was Chief Forecasters at Al Dhafra Airbase. Then from 2000 to 2004, he became the Head of Forecasting Section as well as the Deputy Director at the Department of water resources studies, which belongs to the office of H.H. the President then. In addition, in the same period, he worked as a Deputy Director of the National Project for United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and he was in charge of cloud seeding project in UAE in cooperation with the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), USA. From 2005 to 2007, he worked as Director of Atmospheric Studies Department in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. Since 2008 until present, he has been working as an Executive Director of the National Center for Meteorology and Seismology.
He has established a national network of 60 automatic weather stations for weather monitoring, a national network of five seismic stations for seismic monitoring, and a national network of six weather radars, covering all the UAE. In addition, he has established climate database and seismic database. He contributed to the development of high precision Numerical Weather Predictions and simulation software in the UAE. He has developed the Organizational Structure and the regulations for the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology. Furthermore, he actively implemented the Emiratisation policy plan, which raised the percentage of Nationals to approximately 60% in the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology.
